02 — About
"Mission statement: To connect with people from different walks of life through artwork for the purpose of promoting cultural diversity & peace through understanding."
[Placeholder bio.] Migdalia is a Puerto Rican mixed-media artist who grew up between Humboldt Park and her grandmother's house in Ponce. Her work moves between intimate portraiture — friends, family, neighbors — and editorial cartoons drawn for community newsletters across Chicago's West and Northwest sides.
[Placeholder bio.] She works primarily in acrylic, charcoal and pen & ink, often on found paper or hand-stretched linen. Her practice is rooted in slow looking and in listening to the rooms her subjects choose to sit in.
[Placeholder bio.] She has shown at neighborhood galleries, community centers and a handful of dive bars across the city. She is available for commissioned portraits, editorial illustration, and select community projects.
